Mathematics Teaching Using Robotics: A Proposal of a Teaching Resource

This article is the result of complete research, which investigated how robotics can be used as a teaching resource combined with the idea of gamification for teaching and learning Mathematics. In this work, we aim to report the process of creating an Educational Robot, to be used as a teaching resource in mathematics classes. The presented proposal includes the construction of this Robot, and was divided into two parts: the mechanics and the construction of the project's main algorithm. The mechanics part deals with the description of the components of the Educational Robot, while in the construction of the algorithm part, the code that allows the Robot to function are discussed. The use of educational robotics can help students develop notions of laterality, space, geometric concepts, logical reasoning, interpretation, and analysis of data, criticality and decision-making. As a result of this work, we have a teaching resource that is capable of encouraging students to partake in activities proposed in mathematics classroom.
