Chamada para publicação de trabalhos RBBA / Convocatoria para la publicación de artículos de la RBBA / Call for publication of RBBA works
The REVISTA BINACIONAL BRASIL - ARGENTINA: DIÁLOGO ENTRE AS CIÊNCIAS (Brazil-Argentina Bi-National Journal: Dialogue Among Sciences) announces a call for the publication of unpublished works for the thematic dossier, as well as for the section on continuous flow articles.
In 2024, it marks 6 years since the publication of volume 7, number 2 of the RBBA, whose dossier was titled “Bioética, Meio Ambiente e Direitos Humanos" (Bioethics, Environment, and Human Rights), coordinated by María Eugenia Chartier and Alejandro Raúl Trombert (UNL, Argentina) and Bruno Ferreira dos Santos and Ana Cristina Santos Duarte (UESB, Brazil).
In the few years since that edition, unprecedented phenomena such as the COVID-19 pandemic, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, have occurred. This had consequences not only for health—primarily public health—but also led to profound social, economic, and environmental consequences. It brought to the public stage a series of (bio)ethical conflicts, some new that still need to be explored and understood, and others not so much; and at the same time, it exposed old problems related to social inequalities, poverty, and lack of access to health services affecting millions of people in different regions of the planet, including Latin America and the Caribbean. It is also worth noting the intensification of war conflicts in different parts of the world (Ukraine and Russia; Israel and Palestine, to name just a couple of examples). Additionally, there has been an increase in inequalities and a growing right-wing politics at both regional and global levels.
The rapid scientific and technological development in the field of biotechnologies in recent decades, combined with a new spring of artificial intelligence, necessitates repositioning the issues of the interests of science, technology, and society at the center of the bioethical discussion, which should not prevail over those of human beings.
Understanding that current living conditions demand innovative, bold, and sharp forms of reflection that invite us to observe, build knowledge, and generate alternative proposals on different topics such as education, health, environment, and scientific-technological development, the RBBA proposes the dossier "Biotecnologias, Inteligência Artificial e Saúde: diálogos (bio)éticos num mundo em crise" (Biotechnologies, Artificial Intelligence, and Health: (Bio)ethical Dialogues in a World in Crisis). This dossier will seek to provide various reflections on the relationships between scientific-technological development in these areas and their social, cultural, political-economic, educational, ethical, and bioethical implications.

The deadline for submitting articles for the dossier is open from the date of this publication until October 30, 2024.
