Afrofuturism is an artistic, aesthetic and political movement that stems from science fiction literature and expands into other areas of knowledge. In general, Afrofuturist productions recreate a future in which black people are the protagonists and use science and technology to promote freedom and existence. Scientific and technological elements are mandatory in Afrofuturist narratives and, recently, researchers in the field of Science Teaching have used Afrofuturism as a starting point for thinking about the nature of science or proposing classroom activities. The aim of this article is to analyze the presence of Afrofuturism as a teaching and research proposal in the field of Science Teaching through the publication of articles in national and international journals over the last 15 years.
