Abstract

With the aim of presenting part of my research on the life and work of Paulo Freire, this article consists of an adapted excerpt from my doctoral dissertation. It provides a brief biographical account of this renowned educator from Pernambuco and explores three of his many pedagogical principles, namely: Respect for the student, Reading the world, and Educating for liberation. Paulo Freire’s scientific and philosophical legacy constitutes an undeniable intellectual heritage of our country and remains an essential reference for Brazilian education.
