IMPERIALISM IN LATIN AMERICA. UNCLE SAM'S ACTIONS IN THE BOLIVIAN ANDES

Abstract

Latin America has always been the stage for the interests of the great powers, with emphasis on the presence of the USA, which used all the mechanisms to guarantee control over the region. Bolivia, due to its natural wealth, became a territory of wide disputes, having become an area of ​​control of US imperialism. In the recent period, the rise of popular movements and the political victory of the Movement to Socialism (MAS), with Evo Morales, brought a new political and economic configuration to the country, a situation that has directly contradicted the interests of the great empire of the North and provoked moments of tension, and a strong mobilization of the USA, with the aim of resuming control of the country. Therefore, it is the central target of this article to analyze the government of Evo Morales and the reaction of the United States in the search for the destabilization of this government, aiming at the return of its hegemony in the region.
