Current regulations for the comprehensive protection of the family and children and adolescents: critical review from the perspective of comprehensive protection in Venezuela

Abstract

This article presents a critical review of the current regulations for the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents in Venezuela. The importance of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, approved in 1999, as a foundation to guarantee the rights of children and adolescents in the country, is highlighted. The Constitution establishes that children have the right to a life full of happiness, love and understanding, and that the State must guarantee comprehensive protection of their rights. In addition, it recognizes the importance of the family as the fundamental nucleus of society and its responsibility in the education and training of children. In this sense, the laws and regulations that have been strengthened in Venezuela to protect children and adolescents are analyzed. The Venezuelan Civil Code stands out, which establishes the obligations and responsibilities of parents in relation to their minor children. The Organic Law for the Protection of Boys, Girls and Adolescents (LOPNNA) is also mentioned, which establishes a legal framework to guarantee the physical, psychological and social well-being of children and adolescents. Finally, it discusses how to contribute to the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents in Venezuela. Emphasis is placed on the importance of joint work between the State, families, and communities to guarantee effective compliance with existing laws and regulations. Likewise, the need to promote a culture based on respect for human rights and child welfare is highlighted. In conclusion, this article offers an overview of the current regulations for the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents in Venezuela and highlights the importance of their effective compliance to guarantee a better future for children and adolescents in the country.
