Threads: an emerging social media in education?

Abstract

This article addresses the (potential) contributions of Threads in learning. Starting from the guiding question, “What educational experiences can be conducted using the social media platform Threads?”, this study aims to explore the potential of this social media platform in the formative process of teachers and students. To achieve this goal, a brief bibliographic study was methodologically conducted - mapping research on networks and social media (origin, characteristics, differences, their relationship with the past and present, and finally, their integration in education) - along with an exploratory research - investigating how Threads can contribute to the learning process. The results highlight the importance of this tool as an innovative and emergent formative resource in education, offering new possibilities to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
