The article aims to present the results of a research about learning within the scope of the More Education Program practices in a school in Jaboatão dos Guararapes-PE. For this, observations and interviews were made with the subjects in the school (management team, teachers, the program coordinator at school, monitors and students) and in the municipal secretary. The political context is also briefly analyzed as an element for understanding discourses, as proposed by Stephen Ball. Thus, the study articulates the political perspective and its effects in the context of practice. In the answers, the speeches around the taste for studies were highlighted, according to Bernard Charlot. The artistic activities were pointed as fundamental to this process, especially with regard to the production of texts. For the interviewees, there was an improvement of the students both in their relationship, the students with the teachers, as well as in the school performance.
