THE INTELLECTUAL THEME IN WRITING THE HISTORY OF EDUCATION

This article analyzes the implications of meanings associated with the intellectual term in theses and dissertations defended between the years 2004 to 2018 in the Graduate Programs in Education of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) and University Tiradentes (UNIT). We selected the history of education that investigated trajectories, functions and intellectual products, based on a theoretical analysis of the concept of intellectual. From the bibliographic research, it was noticed that the interface between historiography of education and the concept of intellectual highlighted previously unknown subjects in the field of education, as well as a re-signification of the actions and functions of the intellectuals. This is because interests, ideas, discourses and actions in the educational area were associated with their contexts of production and reception, which often involved other scenarios such as political, intellectual, religious, journalistic and artistic.
