Abstract

Inserted in the field of discussions on academic literacy, with a closer look at the initial teacher formation processes, this article brings the results of a study that aimed to verify the reading practices of students of a licensing degree in Physical Education and the contribution that the academic formation brings to the expansion of these practices. The data were obtained from the application of a questionnaire to 69 incoming and graduating students. The results point to incipient reading practices, to prevalence of academic articles reading and to strategies of repeating the reading of the text aiming to a better understanding. Tardif (2011), Andrade (2007), Kleiman (2006) and Fiad (2011) theoretically based the research.
